Surfboard Rack

Sometimes its really nice to have a CNC router in the shop. I’d been wanting to hang my 9′ longboard up out of the way on the wall, and I’d seen some interesting wooden wall racks. But I wanted it to fit the general theme of the shop, so what better than monkey tails!

I made two tails on the CNC machine out of 3/4″ Baltic Birch shop plywood. The tails are 1″ thick, and while a bit flexy they seem plenty strong enough to hold the surfboard. If I ever do them over then I’d make the board lean back towards the wall a few inches, and adjust the opening size on the tails to let the board down a little bit.
