This wiki is here to provide information on exactly how I build snowboards so that other may learn from it. The information here is based upon my experience building boards for Happy Monkey Snowboards, Inc. from ’03-‘10 as well as my continued personal building.

This will not be a comprehensive treatment of all the different ways to accomplish these tasks, but rather just the ways that I have personally done it that have yielded success. For alternatives to these techniques see Skibuilders.com and GrafSnowboards.com, where they have collected detailed how-to’s on how they and others build boards, and have extensive and active forums with even more information on alternatives.

The following pages provide overviews of various parts of the process, with links to other pages.

  • Construction – the steps in building a snowboard assuming you have all the equipment and materials.
  • Equipment – the machines needed to build a snowboard.
  • Materials – the materials needed to build a snowboard.
  • Resources – background and basic skills for woodworking, composites, etc.
  • MonkeyWiki:About – purpose of this site, how to ask questions, and how to contribute.

The articles in this wiki are (or will be soon!) heavily categorized. The page Special:Categories lists all categories and is an alternative way to browse thru the content on this site.

What about skis?

I’ve only built snowboards, but you’ll find that ski and snowboard construction are amazingly similar. You can use all of the information here to build either, even though it all refers to snowboards. It’s okay :)

There are a lot of placeholders, but otherwise the articles that are here now are technically correct and up-to-date. The only exception would be articles in Category:Not Ready. Take them with a grain of salt.

Any articles in Category:Needs Editing just need edits for grammar and readibility.
